This book caught my attention after reading reviewers compare the author to Willa Cather and Wallace Stegner. At the turn of the (twentieth) century a young woman heads west to Century, Oregon to live with family after the death of her parents, and must adjust to life on the frontier. It's a coming of age novel set against a plot of turf wars by homesteaders, cattlemen, sheepherders and railroad tycoons. Beautifully written, straight-forward prose--insert a love story and a murder mystery--and you have a great book.
